Picodev Lab privacy policy
Last updated:
Picodev Lab is an online demonstration: you program an Arduino board in the Picodev lab, from your browser or with your coding agent. We designed it to keep no data longer than necessary: no account, no advertising, no audience measurement, and almost everything disappears at the end of your session.
1. Who is responsible
Picodev SAS, 11 rue Louise Colet, 13100 Aix-en-Provence, France, SIRET 812 078 178 00033.
For any question about your data: contact@picodev.fr
2. In short
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your code | To compile and simulate it | In your browser, until you delete it. On our server: for the time of the compilation, then the result for 30 minutes in memory |
| The compiled program (without your source code) | To speed up an identical compilation | 24 hours at most |
| Your session (code, circuit, simulation, measurements, test results) | To run it and show it to the people you allow | In memory only, deleted at the end of the session: 10 minutes after you close your browser, 4 hours at most |
| Your IP address | To limit abuse (number of compilations and sessions per minute) | In memory, a few minutes. Never written to our logs |
| Technical logs (errors, without IP address or code) | To fix the service | Deleted by rotation, without personal data |
| Your project or meeting request, if you send one | To answer you | 3 years after our last exchange |
3. No account
You have nothing to create or provide to use the lab. Each session gets an identifier and tokens drawn at random, which say nothing about you.
4. Your code
Your code is saved in your browser (local storage), so that you find it again when you come back. It is sent to our server only to be compiled or, during a session, to be relayed to the people watching it (§ 5). We do not keep it: it is written nowhere on our disks.
Avoid putting personal or confidential information in it: a shared session shows it to others.
5. Shared sessions
You choose who can watch your session:
- Private: no one but you;
- With the link: the people you give the link to, read-only;
- Public: listed on the site, visible to every visitor.
Viewers see your code, the simulation, the serial output and the test results. Changing the visibility level immediately cuts off those no longer allowed. At the end of the session, nothing of it remains with us.
6. With a coding agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor…)
When your agent uses the lab, it sends us the same as the browser: code, a circuit and commands for your session. What your agent sends to its own provider falls under that provider’s policy, not ours. Our server never reads the files on your computer: it only receives what the agent passes to it.
During your turn on the real bench, your agent can ask for a photo of the bench. The camera is aimed at the bench; the photo is shown only to your agent, and we do not keep it.
7. IP address and security
Your IP address is used only to limit abuse: number of compilations, sessions and submissions per minute or per hour. It is held in memory for that count, a few minutes, then forgotten. It is not written to our logs.
8. What we store in your browser
Only what makes the lab work:
- your code, the level reached in a challenge and your display language (local storage), so that you find them again when you come back;
- your session token (session storage, cleared when you close the tab);
- one cookie,
velxio_locale, that remembers the editor’s language (one year).
No advertising cookie and no audience measurement: that is why the site does not ask for your consent. You can delete everything from your browser settings (data of the site lab.picodev.fr).
9. If you write to us: project or meeting request
Only if you decide to, from the site or through your agent. You then send us:
- your contact details: name, e-mail address, and if you wish your company and your phone number;
- the description of your project (and the PDF that lays it out), or your availability for a meeting;
- if you agree, what you did in the lab (setup, mode, level reached).
This information goes out in one e-mail to contact@picodev.fr. Our server keeps no copy of it. We keep this e-mail to answer you and follow up on your request, for 3 years after our last exchange, then we delete it.
If you ask for a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), only your contact details and the title of your project reach us: the description stays on your computer until the agreement is signed.
We never use your address for anything other than answering you, and we add it to no list.
10. Sharing on social networks
The share link we offer contains only the setup, the mode, the number of levels passed and the time. By clicking LinkedIn, Bluesky or X, you open that network: its own policy then applies.
11. Who processes your data with us
| Provider | Role | Location |
|---|---|---|
| OVHcloud | Hosting of the server | Gravelines, France |
| Scaleway | Sending the project and meeting request e-mails | France |
Scaleway keeps a record of each sending (date, delivery status, subject), without your details: your name and address are only in the body of the e-mail.
No data is sold, rented or used for advertising. None is transferred outside the European Union.
12. Legal bases
- Running the lab and protecting it from abuse: our legitimate interest in offering a safe service.
- Project or meeting request: your consent, and the exchanges prior to a possible contract.
13. Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, its rectification, its erasure, the restriction of its processing, object to it, ask for its portability, and withdraw your consent at any time, by writing to contact@picodev.fr. As we keep almost nothing, this mostly concerns project request e-mails. If you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).
14. Verifiable
The lab’s editor is open source: you can read what it does with your code at github.com/PICODEV-SAS/picodev-lab. So are the Claude Code plugin and the VS Code extension: github.com/PICODEV-SAS/picodev-lab-plugin and github.com/PICODEV-SAS/picodev-lab-vscode.
15. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with its date. Important changes are announced on the lab’s home page.
